According to a study conducted by a team of researchers from the National Institutes of Health in the United States, sweeteners, present in products guaranteed “no added sugar”, would have a negative impact on health.
Sweeteners create glucose intolerance
Numerous studies have already shown that products without added sugar and diet or zero calorie sodas are not as effective as they seem in the fight against obesity. But a study carried out by researchers from the American National Institutes of Health reveals that they are even dangerous for health, especially for children. After drinking diet soda, sucralose levels in the blood are twice as high in children as in adults.
Gold, aspartame, sucralose and saccharin can create glucose intolerance. The body therefore has to put more effort into controlling blood sugar levels. But that’s not all, these sweeteners could modify the intestinal flora. What is terrible about these additives is that they give the impression of not consuming sugar, which causes us to take more and therefore multiply the risks.
Sweeteners disrupt the gut microbiota
” Synthetic sweeteners stimulate appetite and disrupt the gut microbiota », Explains Michel Desmurget, neurobiologist and Inserm research director, author of Anti-diet, lose weight for good (Belin), in the columns of Figaro. ” I believe the recent data on synthetic sweeteners is relatively clear “. These sweeteners would make us addicted to sugar even when we don’t eat it.
Sweeteners would also tend to make us fat. Many studies have indeed shown that when eating a product without added sugar, the brain registers the sweet taste and notes the absence of caloric intake that should be associated with it. As a result, it would rebalance the balance by increasing calorie intake. In short, sweeteners are bad for your health and in addition they do not make you lose weight.
