Faster than a McLaren Senna, but with a caveat
Being the fastest in your class with the first car from your very young car brand is already quite a challenge. Even more so if you have to compete against the McLaren Senna as a newcomer. But they succeeded; the American Czinger defeated the Senna at Laguna Seca by being more than two seconds faster. The record now stands at 1 minute 25.44 seconds, against 1:27.62 for the McLaren. The Czinger 21C that was used is also the version going into production. The team immediately says that they plan to set many more records on other circuits. Should the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR be scared yet?
Is it an official record?
That is still the question. According to the press release, it is therefore the Czinger 21C, which has yet to be homologated. The car has not yet passed the last inspection. Probably, these are exactly the nuances that allow a record to be declared unofficial. Incidentally, Czinger speaks of less than ideal conditions. What makes the Czinger 21C so special?
Everything makes the Czinger 21C special. Certain parts have been designed by artificial intelligence to be as light and strong as possible. Then the parts were made by the 3D printer. The passenger sits behind the driver, just like with a Carver or a motorcycle. In addition, the power comes from a 2.88-liter V8 with two turbos, and from two electric motors. In total, the Czinger 21C has 1,250 horsepower.
The company developed the V8 engine all by itself and the block spins just like 11,000 rpm. The 0-100 time of the Czinger 21C is 1.9 seconds. The 0-300 time is 13.8 seconds and it only takes 27.1 seconds to get to 400. The car weighs only 1,240 kilograms. When you hear the specifications, it would almost be strange if they didn’t take the record of Laguna Seca. The announcement of the record comes just after that of Unplugged Performance. They set the EV record on the same circuit at 1 minute and 28.2 seconds.
