After Marseille, Bordeaux and Nice, it is the turn of the metropolis of Lyon to put in place new restrictions to fight against the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic. Discover the new health measures announced this Monday, September 21 by Pascal Mailhos, the Prefect of the Rhône. These measures come into force as of today.
Wearing a compulsory mask
Confirmed by the Council of State, the wearing of the mask remains compulsory in the public space of the cities of Lyon and Villeurbanne and this, on a permanent basis. To this is added the obligation to wear the mask between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. in 10 municipalities of the Lyon metropolis: Bron, Caluire, Ecully, Saint-Fons, Saint-Genis-Laval, Décines, Vénissieux, Vaulx- en-Velin, Saint-Fons, Villefranche-sur-Saône.
At the same time and in the whole of the Rhône department, wearing a mask becomes compulsory within a radius of 50 meters around schools, public transport stations, near sports and entertainment venues as well as in car parks and shopping centers.
Limitation of gatherings
To avoid the risk of the virus spreading, the authorization gauge for large gatherings has been lowered from 5,000 to 1,000 people. This is why certain events will be canceled such as the Foire de Lyon. Likewise, funfairs, flea markets and garage sales are prohibited in the Rhône. Any event bringing together more than 10 people on the public highway will now have to be declared to the prefecture by presenting a health protocol provided for this purpose.
From this Tuesday, September 22, the sale and consumption of alcohol as well as the broadcasting of amplified music on public roads will be prohibited between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Regarding the private sphere, the prefect recommends limiting family, friendly and associative gatherings to a maximum of 10 people throughout the Rhône department. In order to protect the most vulnerable people, EHPAD visits are now limited to 2 people per week and per resident, in all the municipalities of the Rhône and the Métropole de Lyon.
More control in bars and restaurants
Unlike other cities in France such as Marseille and Nice, bars and restaurants in the Rhône department can keep their usual opening and closing hours. On the other hand, establishments will be subject to more control.
Pascal Mailhos thus announced: “ Controls will be stepped up. If we find any breaches of barrier gestures in these establishments, there will be sanctions and I will not hesitate to demand their administrative closure. […] These measures are taken for two weeks. If they are not effective enough, we will take more severe ones. “
