In France, this February 28 is a new step vis-à-vis health restrictions relating to the fight against the spread of Covid-19. Several measures are lightened. But which ones? Explanations.
- The effective reproduction rate of the virus is currently 0.57.
- 1,263 new patients with Covid-19 have been hospitalized on average over the past seven days, a drop of around 26% over one week.
Restaurant, café, cinema, theatre… From this Monday, February 28, there is no longer any need to wear a mask in these closed places subject to the vaccination pass. But it is still necessary to inquire before dropping it because, according to a decree published on Saturdaythe prefect of the department can keep it compulsory if “local circumstances justify it”. In long-term transport (i.e. trains, buses or planes), companies, nursing homes and hospitals, as well as shops and supermarkets, the mask remains compulsory until new order.
End of the outdoor mask for students
Change also in schools. The health protocol goes to level 2 from this Monday, February 28, which concerns several academies such as those of Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Besançon, Bordeaux, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon and Poitiers. Thus, all students will go back to school without a mask outside. They will also no longer have to wear it during indoor sports classes, except for contact activities. Inside, however, the mask remains compulsory for everyone, namely schoolchildren and teachers, especially classrooms.
A single test for contact cases
From this Monday, you no longer need to do three tests if you are vaccinated and have a contact case. A single self-test, antigen test or RT-PCR is sufficient. It must be done two days after receiving the information that one is in contact. And, as was already the case, vaccinated people will not need to isolate themselves if they are in contact.
Several criteria for lifting the vaccination pass
These reliefs come into force on Monday, because the figures for the Covid-19 epidemic have been positive for several weeks in France. This Friday, February 25, 25,484 patients with Covid-19 were hospitalized, 634 less than the day before. People in critical care were 2,546, down 110 from Thursday, February 24. These figures that have an impact on the sequel. Indeed, to put an end to the vaccination pass, the government has set several objectives to be achieved: 1,500 patients affected by Covid-19 in critical care, an incidence rate below 500, whereas it is currently around 700, and a reproduction rate (i.e. the average number of people an infected individual can contaminate) below 1 for several weeks, which has been the case since January 29.
