Our make-up bags have nothing to envy to the best outfits of surgeons: round or square sponges, more or less fine brushes, soft, hard, semi-soft and semi-hard brushes … Every morning, it’s a whole small arsenal that you have to unpack to get a makeover. Stop! What if we just tried on finger makeup?
Make-up on the finger, more hygienic
Without appearing to be, the beauty tools we use every day are teeming with bacteria harmful to our health … especially if we never think of washing them.
“The bathroom is a humid environment,” recalls Dr. Dominique Abbadie, dermatologist and allergist. The microbes as well as fungi develop easily, especially on sponges, cottons and other cotton swabs left abandoned on the edge of the sink. Reusing a cosmetic tool several times in a row (even if it is tidy in the bottom of a make-up bag) is to take the risk of spreading all these little people on your face… ”
With the fingers, on the other hand, no risk. “Before putting on your finger makeup, wash your hands thoroughlysoap, advises Dr Dominique Abbadie, and rewash your hands each time you change the product. The risk of skin irritation will be significantly lower than, for example, with an old foundation brush that has never been washed. ”
Make-up on the finger, more effective
There are plenty of arguments in favor of finger makeup. Note, for example, that unlike sponges and cottons, your fingers do not absorb the product, especially when it is liquid. Suddenly, no risk of waste!
Moreover, if you are not used to priming yourself, finger makeup is for you: what better way to start than using tools that you are used to and that you have mastered perfectly?
Make-up on the finger, in practice
Preferably choose cosmetics with liquid, creamy or foamy textures: they will be easier to apply on the finger. Then there is no question of dipping your claws in the products, haphazardly: each finger has its own specific use and which corresponds to its characteristics.
Thumb, full-bodied, is ideal for applying cream blush or blending a powdery blush onto a medium-sized surface (eg cheeks).
Index is the most agile of all fingers, musicians know it well: it is therefore effective for applying, blending and correcting eye shadows, by sliding movements.
The major is less agile than the index finger, therefore less precise, but remains ideal for applying and blending lipstick, by tapping with the pulp of the finger.
Ring finger is the one of the five with the most delicate touch: it is therefore perfect for depositing material in sensitive areas (such as eye area) without irritating them.
And finally little finger, the smallest of all, is mainly used for making small makeup touch-ups but can also allow you to reach very small areas, such as the inner corner of the eye …
