A few days ago, the main union of general practitioners, MG France invited practitioners to increase by two euros, from the beginning of April, the price of their consultation. Currently (and since 2011), the consultation of a general practitioner costs the patient 23 euros. At a specialist, it costs 25 euros. General practitioners are therefore calling for a realignment of prices with specialist colleagues. But faced with the refusal of the public authorities, the main doctor’s union called on its members to unilaterally increase the price of their consultation.
A consultation always reimbursed on the basis of 23 euros
However, in an interview given to Quotidien du Médecin at the beginning of the week, the head of the Health Insurance, considers that this call was followed by a limited number of doctors adding that “if the phenomenon remains very limited, it does not is no less unacceptable”.
“For a week, we have only noted a few hundred overquotes concentrated on a very limited number of doctors”, he affirms, recalling, for the attention of the insured, that consultations at 25 euros will continue to be reimbursed. on the basis of 23 euros.
Doctors’ unions have been calling for several months for an increase in their prices, which must be negotiated with Health Insurance, but not before 2016.
General practitioners who belong to sector 1, which is the case for 90% of them, must comply with social security tariffs and cannot practice overcharges, unlike practitioners in sector 2.
