Photos to give hope
In April 2016, Scout’s grandmother was diagnosed with a breast cancer and must undergo a double mastectomy. It is a hard blow for the little girl, very close to the latter. “We were looking for a way to keep our minds occupied during a very difficult time. When Nonnie’s hair started to fall out, Scout worried tremendously. I felt the need to teach her that women are fighters,” explains the mother of the girl in an article published on BoredPanda. It is therefore following the diagnosis that this idea is set up. “We made a list of strong women, explaining to Scout the strength and the will of each of them. We then chose together the photo we wanted to reproduce.” For a year, throughout the treatment of the grandmother, Scout and her parents apply themselves to choosing the women particularly appreciated by Nonnie, like Ellen DeGeneres but also the heroes of Disney that the little girl adores. “This project has probably taught me as much or more than I taught my daughter. I wish Scout knew that women are as strong as any man. And I hope when she looks at these pictures with Looking back, she will be proud of who she is and what she has accomplished “she concludes in BoredPanda. Today, Nonnie is rid of her cancer and is very proud of her granddaughter.
