My son has a three month old baby. Yesterday I saw to my surprise that he just poured the water for the bottle feeding from the tap into the bottle! My doctor taught me to always boil tap water. Can this just happen? My wife and I think it’s irresponsible.

Don’t worry, your son is doing fine. The stories about cooking come from a time when it was water was even less reliable. Do you also drink water from the tap yourself? If you are preparing food for the whole day, it is recommended that you boil the water so that you get a type of sterilized milk. But get in it bacteria the chance to grow. That’s why making fresh is always better. And there is always a tap and a kettle somewhere to bring the bottle up to temperature.
