The war in Ukraine is causing a lot. Bitcoin owners are supporting the country in large numbers and they do so by donating Bitcoins.
Since the war broke out, many Bitcoin owners have donated some. This is to support the army. Cryptocurrency donations have poured into a non-profit organization that supports Ukrainian soldiers. A few days ago, more than $5 million had been raised.
Bitcoin Owners Support Ukraine
One of the largest non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing support to the Ukrainian military, Come Back Alive, has received millions in Bitcoin donations after Russia launched a large-scale offensive against Ukraine. Founded in 2014, the Kiev-based group provides support to Ukrainian soldiers, including military equipment, training services and medical supplies.
Digital donations to the Bitcoin address listed on the organization’s website skyrocketed on Thursday after Russia launched the attack. At the time of writing, the wallet address has received approximately 131 Bitcoins.
Donations are rising
The chief scientist and co-founder of blockchain analytics platform Elliptic, Tom Robinson, tweeted about it. Cryptocurrency donations in support of the Ukrainian armed forces are soaring. “Cryptocurrency is increasingly being used to crowdfund wars, with the tacit approval of governments,” he told CNBC.
The Come Back Alive organization started accepting Bitcoin donations in 2018. These donations have soared recently. In the meantime, the Come Back Alive fundraising page on Patreon has been removed by the platform. $300,000 also came in on this platform, but when he first logged in, the page was deleted. The platform is now investigating, but previously said it would not allow campaigns involving violence or the purchase of military equipment, regardless of the cause.
