A woman was seriously injured by a man accompanying his daughter to the emergency room at Robert-Ballanger hospital. He is currently wanted by the police.
A simple look that turns into a drama. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, between 2 and 3 a.m., a man in his forties went to the Robert-Ballanger hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-St-Denis) to have his daughter examined. In the waiting room, an argument broke out between the man and his partner.
The couple would then have moved into the emergency room entrance, where the altercation continued under the eyes of three people, including two women. The man obviously did not know them, but their looks on the stage disturbed him. After exchanging a few insults, he allegedly took a large hunting knife out of his bag, to use it against the small group, according to witnesses at the scene.
In the assault, the man lightly injured two of his victims, in the chest and thigh. But the third person was not so lucky: by striking her in the thigh, he severed her femoral artery.
In intensive care unit
The 40-year-old woman, who lost a lot of blood, was immediately taken care of, operated on and placed in intensive care. For a while in a very critical situation, her health finally improved, and she would currently be out of danger.
In the meantime, the assailant has fled. He would still be wanted by the police, and the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for attempted murder.
Recurring security issues
The staff say they are very shocked, and quite annoyed. It is far from being the first event of this type at the Ballanger hospital, which covers a population pool of nearly 450,000 inhabitants, in particular from the municipalities of Aulnay-sous-Bois, Villepinte, Sevran , Blanc-Mesnil and Tremblay-en-France, all located in Seine-Saint-Denis and suffering from security problems.
The climate there would be very tense, according to Patrice Vétéran, the CGT delegate of the establishment, questioned by The Parisian. “Access to the hospital is completely open,” he explains. We regularly face intrusions, including in the pediatric ward. Violence took place last Thursday against the staff ”.
The health and safety committee has already met four times on this subject since the start of the year. A month and a half ago, its members had just voted a motion to ask for more resources to ensure the safety of the hospital, adds the trade unionist. Only an agent assures it. And only at night …
