After two days of intensive golf, I can’t wear a single shoe on my left foot for eight days now. A spot on the tendon of my big toe – where the shoe folds in half when walking – is quite irritated. What can I do about it?

Anouk Jannes, podiatrist:
Annoying. It may indeed be irritated/overloaded. First of all, I would advise wearing shoes with a roomier toe box and stiff outsole for the next few days. A walking shoe is often stiffer around the toes, giving the big toe more rest.
If the pain does not subside, I would refer you to your GP or a podiatrist who may be able to help you with pressure relief/taping.
Yours sincerely,
Anouk Jannes
