This is what you can do about it
It lives in your house all year round and causes most of the allergies: the dust mites. The animal itself can’t do much harm, but its droppings can. They can cause all kinds of allergic reactions. Everything about the symptoms and how you can tackle the animal.
The house dust mite is a white, spider-like animal that you cannot see with the naked eye. It can be found in every living space. Two million dust mites can live in your bed alone. They feed on the dander of humans and animals. For example, a person loses half a kilo of dander per year.
Where do dust mites come from?
The house dust mite mainly lives in moist places, such as:
- Textile
- Fabric furniture
- Carpeting
- Moldy walls
- Mattresses
- To kiss
- stuffed animals
He is especially happy at temperatures between 16 and 25 degrees, with a humidity of 60 to 80 percent.
Allergic Reactions
The droppings of a house mite dry up after a while and fall apart. They then become so small that they can penetrate into your alveoli. As a result, conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema get worse. But even without these conditions, you can have an allergic reaction to house dust mites. Children are especially sensitive to it.
If you have a dust mite allergy, you can recognize it by:
- shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Asthma
- Stuffy nose
- Eczema
- Itch
- Cough
- sneezes
- Tearing and itchy eyes
