Air quality readings indicate that the Manche department is experiencing an episode of pollution. Sensitive people should take precautions.
The sun shining on the north-west of France does not only have beneficial effects. This is the surveillance network Atmo Normandy who gave the alert: “A significant deterioration in air quality is currently recorded”, since Saturday March 25. Said degradation is maintained during the day of this Sunday, the network estimating the quality of the air for the agglomerations of Alençon, Caen, Cherbourg, Evreux, Le Havre, Lisieux, Rouen and Saint-Lô of “bad”.
In fact, the Manche prefecture took the decision to classify the department in “atmospheric pollution” vigilance on March 25. This is a yellow alert. Note that with regard to Ile-de-France, Airparif does not identify a pollution episode, while specifying that the level of pollution is “average”.
Some recommendations to follow
As a result of this ultra-fine particle pollution, people most sensitive to pollution peaks should take care to limit intense physical or sporting activities, both outdoors and indoors. Travel on or near major highways during peak periods should be limited. Are concerned in particular “pregnant women, babies and young children, the elderly as well as people suffering from certain disorders (asthma, cardiovascular pathologies, cardiac or respiratory insufficiency)”, indicates the prefecture of Manche.
As for the general population, it has not, given the level of alert, no need to change its habits.
