In 2019, an English pensioner underwent several cosmetic surgeries, including blepharoplasty to smooth out his wrinkles. Since these interventions, he has been unable to close his eyes.
- The various surgeries, performed by Pete Broadhurst, cost him 11,000 pounds, or around 13,000 euros.
- Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery operation that aims to remove bags under the eyes, correct drooping eyelids or smooth the look.
After a breakup, some want to become the best version of themselves. For this, they go back to playing sports or eating healthy. Pete Broadhurst, a 79-year-old Englishman, has, meanwhile, bet on cosmetic surgery. Three years ago, the pensioner decided to reduce his cheeks, which remained swollen after a dental procedure, and to smooth out the wrinkles on his face. He made this decision after the mother of his two children broke up with him because of his physique.
“It was horrible, I couldn’t close my eyes”
According to the daily Daily Star, he performed a neck lift, a blepharoplasty under the eyes and a rhinoplasty. In January 2019, Pete Broadhurst had surgery for 9 hours. “I looked like I had been beaten. It was horrible, I couldn’t close my eyes. I was sick all night. The day after the operation, I regretted having done it “, he told the British newspaper.
A few days after the surgery, the septuagenarian went to the hospital and reported to the doctors that he could no longer manage to close his eyes completely. The practitioners explained to her that this was a normal side effect and that it would disappear over time. Problem: a few months after the surgery, the Briton was still unable to close his eyes, which caused him irritation.
“Be careful because a cosmetic operation can ruin your life”
In May 2019, his surgeon operated on him again to solve his problem. The healthcare professional performed a skin graft on his face so that the skin on his cheeks could join his eyelids. Today, he still has difficulty closing his eyes completely. Pete Broadhurst now uses duct tape when he sleeps and puts drops in his eyes eight times a day to prevent them from drying out.
“My left eye is still open today. Whoever you trust, even if they are an excellent surgeon, be careful because it can ruin your life,” did he declare.
