The depression can wreak havoc. This reality, Kayley Olsson, hairdresser in Iowa (United States), was confronted with it head on and wanted to share it on social networks, by publishing a before / after, spotted by the Huffington Post.
It all starts when a 16-year-old girl walks into the salon where she works to get her hair cut before school starts. “She asked me to cut everything,” says Kayley Olsson on Facebook. And for good reason: the young woman explains to him that she is in depression for several years and she feels so ill that she cannot brush her hair.
“You Made Me Feel Me Again”
Touched by the story of the teenager, the hairdresser decides to do everything possible to keep her hair and give her a nice cut. After 13 hours of work spread over two days, Kayley Olsson took up her challenge, to the delight of her young client. “The last words she said to me were: ‘I’m going to smile in my class photo, you made me feel like myself again'”, confides the hairdresser.
But this experience deeply marked Kayley Olsson, who decided to send a message on Facebook: “The mental illnesses are something serious, they affect people all over the world and of all ages. Parents, take it seriously… A child should never feel so useless that they don’t brush their hair anymore.”
