To fight against child crime on the web, the Innocence en Danger association gives danger a face: an emoticon made human.
Who is behind the emoticons? The Innocence en Danger association imagined it for its latest campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of the Internet. While 72% of children surf the Internet alone, the organization recalls that cybercrime remains very active.
This new campaign of the association carried out with the RosaPark agency wants to put an end to online recklessness. To do this, she assimilates smileys, widely used in online conversations, and the people behind them. The result is cold in the back, but recalls the extent of child crime online: according to the UN, they are more than 700,000 to act with impunity on the web.
Children are at risk of shocking images one in three times, and 40% of 11-17 year olds have seen it at least once. This does not prevent them from freely browsing the Internet. By their own admission, a majority (60%) use chats and social media to make new friends. But behind a discussion riddled with smileys can hide a pedo-criminal. Screens are then only a false protection for young people, because they do not keep them away from content of a shocking or traumatic nature.
About one in five children have ever been sexually solicited online. These numbers are exploding. To protect them, recalls Innocence in Danger, all you have to do is install parental control software on the family computer. This is not the case for 60% of devices.
