About innocent moles and melanomas
A birthmark above the mouth belongs to one of the seven beauties. But when does an ‘innocent spot’ turn into something that you really need to see a doctor for?
moles can give an appearance something special; a nice unique touch. But these pigment build-ups are also something to keep an eye on. When is a visit to the doctor wise?
• If the mole gets bigger or thicker.
• If the birthmark changes color.
• If the mole changes shape and/or outlines and the edge becomes irregular.
• If the mole starts to itch.
• If the mole starts to bleed.
• If there is an ulcer or scab on the mole.
• Do you have three or more suspicious moles or two or more first-degree relatives with a melanoma, have your moles checked annually by a dermatologist.
