Developed with patients and their relatives, this application allows daily monitoring of the disease. It aims to give patients more autonomy.
To alleviate the daily life of people with cystic fibrosis, Mukk takes care of everything. This mobile application, available for free on iPhone and Android, was developed with the association Vaincre la cysticoviscidose and the Novartis laboratory.
Patients, parents of sick children and caregivers also participated in its creation. “This allowed us to address points that are important for us on a daily basis such as having the prescription on hand or information on pollution”, explains Vanessa, mother of Alexandre suffering from cystic fibrosis in a video from the association.
More autonomy
Mukk presents himself as the best companion of the sick. Every day, he takes news on their state of health, on the respiratory, digestive level but also in general. It also plays the role of an agenda by reminding the user to take his treatments or go to his physiotherapist sessions.
“When you are the parent of a child with cystic fibrosis, you tend to be on their back a lot. He is asked if he has taken his medication, how he is feeling. It is true that it can be very suffocating for a teenager, recognizes Vanessa. And Mukk’s goal is to empower patients in particular. “When I have to take my medication, if I have a new one that I’m not used to taking, I will know and I can check the prescription. I can also ask for physiotherapy sessions if I don’t feel well, ”describes Alexandre.
Simplify medical monitoring
In addition, Mukk gives information about the disease and care. It also provides practical advice concerning the management of illness during the holidays, or educational and professional integration. Users can also create their own files and share them by email.
All information recorded in the application is “confidential and accessible by him alone,” said Overcome cystic fibrosis in a press release. The association specifies in passing that the application is not intended to replace medical monitoring but aims to simplify it. This information can indeed be printed and allow a very detailed history of several weeks to be presented.
