After the warning of an American doctor against full bikini waxing, a new study casts doubt on the waxing of the bikini short, full, metro ticket, or classic. Full hair removal is suspected of causing irritationconducive to the development of pathogenic bacteria.
Hair removal: popular among men
Bikini waxing in the broad sense would involve the same health risks, according to researchers who took the case of 30 patients treated in a clinic in France for the molluscum contagiosum virus. All are said to have caught this virus after pubic hair removal. 24 patients were men. Bikini line hair removal is very fashionable among men, the researchers say.
Molluscum contagiosum is a very contagious virus transmitted by direct skin contact with another infected person. It can also be caught by contact, for example, with an infected bath towel or washcloth. It results in small red pimples on the infected area, without this being accompanied by particular symptoms.
However, scratching these pimples can cause cuts that can leave scars. Worse, these lesions could increase the risk of minor infections like genital warts, according to the researchers.
