Already known to promote the appearance of cavities and stimulate weight gain, sugar is also believed to weaken memory and increase blood pressure. It would also be responsible for erectile dysfunction and the deterioration of the kidneys.
The World Health Organization recommends reducing our intake of sugars, so that they only constitute 5% of our daily caloric intake (against 10% previously tolerated), to preserve our health. It is therefore advisable not to exceed the daily dose of 6 sugar cubes for adults and 3 for children and to avoid industrial preparations. Indeed, much of the sugars consumed today are “hidden” in processed foods that are not always considered sweets. For example, 1 tablespoon of ketchup contains about 1 lump of sugar.
