Tonight the new TopGear season starts
The nights are getting longer again, it’s starting to smell like a fireplace in the neighborhood again and we’ve just had that recurring discussion about whether we lost or gained an hour when winter time was introduced. In other words, it’s about time a new season of TopGear made its way to your TV. From November 14, TopGear is back on BBC One! Every Sunday at 21:00! Well, for now then.
And yes, Chris, Freddie and Paddy are back with a new batch of automotive nonsense, and they’re going harder, further and, er… nonsense than ever before. And all under the guise of ‘testing cars – or something like that’. Here’s what you’ll be seeing tonight in the premiere episode of TopGear Season 31.
Eddie Kidd
Eddie Kidd was one of the greatest bikers ever – an insanely talented and extremely handsome stunt rider who showed the most breakneck feats. However, an accident in 1996 ended his career and his injuries changed his life forever. TopGear pays tribute to him in the only way possible: through Paddy McGuinness who, clad in leather, leaps through a ring of fire. Plus some significantly more talented bikers jumping over a bunch of Trophy Trucks in one of the most spectacular stunt shows you’ll ever see.
F1 drivers at Silverstone in TopGear S31E01
The constant stream of happy giggles from the TopGear offices can only mean one thing: there’s a new 911 GT3. The fierce-winged Porsche is without a doubt a phenomenal car to experience a track day. But what if you want a top track day car that doesn’t have a Porsche logo on its nose, or on its back, or really anywhere? Only one team can tackle this pressing consumer issue: Team TopGear, with an Alfa Giulia GTAm, an Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition and a McLaren 765LT. Day, office, heavy – you know it.
There was, of course, only one way to test this trio of track day cars: on a track day. A little less obvious was the fact that the track chosen by TopGear’s producers was called ‘Silverstone’, and that the day miraculously coincided with that of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix. How would Team TopGear fare against another trio, made up of a roster of the fastest people in the world: Lando Norris, Sebastian Vettel and Antonio Giovinazzi? Well, of course they lost, because F1 drivers are F1 drivers, and Team TopGear is made up of two middle-aged men from Lancashire and a middle-aged man from Bristol. But how much did they lose?
TopGear S31E01 can be seen this Sunday evening, November 14, on BBC One at 9:00 PM Dutch time.
