Among all the controversial measures of the law to modernize the health system, promulgated on January 26, theban on vaping in some public places almost went unnoticed. However, in its article 28, the text does indeed restrict the use of electronic cigarettes.
Pending a decree from the Council of State which will specify the conditions of application, the law specifies all the places where vaping enthusiasts will no longer be able to take out their electronic cigarettes.
Transport, school, work
This primarily concerns establishments welcoming minors, such as schools or day centers. It will also be prohibited to smoke electronic cigarettes at work, in closed offices and for collective use, as well as on public transport.
During the debates on the law, an amendment was also adopted to remove the obligation for companies and schools to provide a specific space for the practice of vaping.
The e-cigarette continues to divide users and French health professionals. In November, the High Authority for Health (HAS) closed the debate on the integration of electronic cigarettes into the medical arsenal for stopping smoking, by issuing a an opinion unfavorable on the subject.
