While 20% of the world’s children do not have access to vaccines, UNICEF is today launching a fundraising campaign to raise awareness of this issue.
A few days before World Immunization Week, UNICEF launched on Wednesday its new campaign “Objective 100% of children vaccinated”, with the aim of raising funds to allow the vaccination of 20% of children. in the world who do not have access to it.
Through this operation, UNICEF France wishes to engage the public on this public health issue which saves millions of 2 to 3 million children each year.
For Sébastien Lyon, Executive Director of UNICEF France, “This campaign is necessary because it is imperative to mobilize now to allow UNICEF and its partners to immunize the most vulnerable children, these 20% who are the most difficult. to reach “. Today the organization is the largest supplier of vaccines in the world, and allows 40% of the world’s children to benefit from this protection necessary for their survival. In addition to traditional vaccination programs, UNICEF also provides support during vaccination campaigns in emergency situations.
A digital and event campaign
The campaign, which runs from April 15 to July 4, 2015, is deployed through social networks and TV spots. On Twitter, she starts with the hashtag # Objectif100. Many personalities, including Elodie Gossuin, the godmother of the operation, are mobilizing alongside UNICEF France by reducing their tweets and articles by 20%. In addition to raising enough funds to finance immunization programs, UNICEF France hopes this campaign will help raise public awareness of the magnitude of this global health issue. Today, even more than 21 million infants around the world are not vaccinated against deadly diseases, such as diphtheria or polio.
