First impression Samsung S22: new camera design and S-Pen

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is coming and a lot will change again. Especially for the S22 Ultra that gets a new design and an S-Pen.

Fans of iPhones can’t believe their luck with the release of the iPhone 13. If you’re from ‘the other side’ and waiting for big news from Samsung, your time is almost up. It’s almost 2022 again and Samsung will traditionally kick off the year with their S series. In this case, the S22, because since the S20, Samsung smartphones count with the years.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Where the big news will mainly be: the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be completely overhauled. Samsung announced that there will be no Note 21 this year, but fans of the largest Samsung smartphone may find themselves in the thickest version of the S series next year. This will be a kind of Note. The largest of the S22 series with a different design compared to the other S22s.

The latter mainly refers to the angular top and bottom and the new camera island. It will be a ‘loose’ island again, not a corner of the housing like the S21. Like recent iPhones, it will look a bit like a stove, with an appendage underneath so that the Telephoto camera can also participate.

S-Pen

Why the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra actually becomes a kind of Note 21: it is the first time that you get an S-Pen with an S-series. This integrated stylus is a tradition for Note devices and has remained a USP for the largest Samsung smartphones. Not anymore. There would still be a Note 22 later in 2022, but with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or the Fold 3 (and perhaps Fold 4 if it is already out), the Note seems to be slowly becoming redundant.
