Road Safety has unveiled its latest short film directed by actor Mathieu Amalric. It features a man desperate to have killed a child because of a text while driving.
The mobile phone has become an indispensable tool in our daily life. But in the opinion of all, it represents a real danger at the wheel. THE’road safety association estimates, in fact, that one in ten bodily accidents is caused by the use of the telephone while driving (see the infographic of the site “sell your car“at the bottom of the article).
And people who call while driving are five times more likely to have an accident.
Thus, the use of the telephone while driving increases the driver’s reaction time by 50% on average, the stopping distance is therefore greater and the impact more violent. In this context, and with the approach of the holidays, Road Safety unveiled a few days ago a very striking new clip against texting while driving. It was directed by French actor Mathieu Amalric.
It’s about Christmas Eve, happy children, a lively family meal and a man trying to put on a good face (actor Pio Marmaï). A normal New Year’s Eve in a family without history? No because sign after sign, the spectator understands that the man feels isolated. He remains silent because he is consumed by the memory of an accident caused by an SMS he sent while he was driving.
A banal gesture with dramatic consequences since it made him responsible for an accident and the death of a child. In this clip, no shocking images, but a lot of emotions. To have !
