More hair loss due to corona (time) and seasons
Do you suffer from hair loss more in this time of corona? This can be due to several factors. For example, it appears that many ex-corona patients suffer more from hair loss as a residual phenomenon. If you haven’t had corona, stress and the change of seasons also play a role.
There are more and more stories from the United States of ex-corona patients who suffer from hair loss as a residual symptom of Covid-19, caused by the corona virus. You can experience hair loss due to various causes, such as diseases, low weight, medicines and chemotherapy, after a stressful event and iron deficiency. It has been known for some time that stress affects our hair and that seems to be the cause here too.
Telogen effluvium: temporary hair loss
According to several American experts Many (ex) corona patients suffer from telogen effluvium: the temporary loss of hair caused by physical or emotional stress, high fever or weight loss. People usually only experience it after a few months after a stressful event, such as getting corona. You can recognize it by hair loss over the entire scalp and more hair loss than normal. Normally you lose about 50 to 120 hairs per day. If you are healthy, new hairs are added every time.
Have you not had Covid-19? Then you can still suffer from hair loss, for example because you (indirectly) had a lot of stress due to the changed situation. Working from home (with or without children), tension or uncertainty at work, worries about your health or that of your loved ones, you name it. Months later, your hair can suddenly start to fall out more.
Spring and Autumn
And there is another simple reason. In the spring and autumn people generally lose more hair than in other seasons, just like animals that are ‘moulting’. When corona entered our country, spring also just started. In this period people lost more hair anyway, which also strengthened the telogen effluvium. Now that autumn is approaching and we are not yet rid of the coronavirus (for the time being), you may also suffer more from hair loss.
