Bordeaux is one of the cities where the circulation of Covid-19 is the most active in France. This is why Prime Minister Jean Castex, asked during the defense council last Friday, to think about new health measures in order to slow the spread of the virus. This Monday, September 14, the prefect of Gironde and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, Fabienne Buccio, presented the new rules that Bordeaux residents will have to respect.
Additional beds in intensive care
To present these new measures, Fabienne Buccio was accompanied by the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic, the president of Bordeaux Métropole Alain Anziani, the deputy regional director of the ARS Hélène Junqua, the infectious disease expert Denis Malvy and the director of the CHU de Bordeaux Yann Bubien.
The latter reported on the situation: “ All signals are red at the CHU »Declared Yann Bubien. On this Monday, September 14, 24 people were in intensive care. To anticipate the coming weeks, an increase in intensive care beds has therefore been announced. At the university hospital center, intensive care beds will go from 180 to 300.
Speed up screening for priority people
Beyond the hospital capacity, the prefect indicated that ” New centers will be opened in Bordeaux this week ” in order to ” fight against overt embolism of the te systemst ”. For this, symptomatic people, contact cases and health personnel must be given priority for screening.
Protect vulnerable people
Among the new health measures, the prefect also announced that in nursing homes, visits would henceforth be limited to 2 people per week and per resident. At the same time, the mayors will have to make sure to make contact with the most vulnerable inhabitants in order to organize meals to be delivered.
Limit gatherings
Faced with the spread of the virus, reinforced measures are planned in the public space. Indeed, the maximum capacity goes from 5,000 to 1,000 people for all public events. This is why Heritage Days are canceled in the Bordeaux metropolis. Fairgrounds, neighbors’ festivals or flea markets will also be prohibited.
Fabienne Buccio also announced the ban on gatherings of more than 10 people in the parks, gardens, quays and beaches of the city of Bordeaux. Alcohol consumption is now prohibited on public roads as well as consumption standing in bars. Likewise, the broadcasting of music outdoors is prohibited. If many feared the earlier closure of restaurants and bars, the prefect explains her choices by saying ” prefer to keep people inside a bar that will be well managed and organized, rather than pushing people out “
Regarding the private sphere, the prefect said ” I solemnly ask each inhabitant to limit family and festive gatherings to a maximum of 10 people. […] I am thinking particularly of festive events such as weddings or birthdays. It is not a question of canceling them but of postponing them. “
More control
To enforce all the measures as well as the compulsory wearing of the mask, the prefect Fabienne Buccio indicated that there will be more checks and verbalizations thanks to the support of the municipal police of the 28 municipalities of the metropolis as well as of the help of mobile gendarmes and CRS.
