In the dermatology department of Bichat-Claude Bernard hospital, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, the first consultation in France, specializing in tattoos, was inaugurated. Doctors in this department will be able to treat skin complications such as inflammations, allergies, bacterial or viral infections, or yeast infections, linked to tattoos.
This consultation will be led by Dr Nicolas Kluger, himself tattooed, who wishes ” carry out research work on this problematic, which is little explored today “, He explained in a statement. ” This work will make it possible to limit or even prevent the risk of developing complications related to tattoos but also to provide the best therapeutic solutions to treat them “.
1 in 10 tattooed people suffer from complications
More and more people are attracted to tattoos: 14% of French people have already tried the adventure. Yet, according to a study conducted by researchers at New York University, 1 in 10 people with tattoos suffer from complications. These complications may be due to poor hygiene on the part of the tattoo artist or, quite simply, to intolerance of the skin to the tattoo.
This consultation will also allow all those who wish to obtain information before taking the plunge, to do so in a health establishment that will not hide the risks and will be able to warn against bad practices that must be avoided to minimize the risk of complications. In case of skin diseases, coagulation problems or pregnancy, this consultation will be essential.
