Recently I, a 52-year-old woman, had the flu, which turned out to be a severe dizziness. Eventually I went to the ENT doctor, who determined that I had had an inflammation of my vestibular system. If I had gotten to her sooner, a shot of medication could have helped, but now the damage is already done. I walk like a drunk. Is this okay again?

Inflammation of your vestibular system is actually always caused by a virus. An acute inflammation of the vestibular system is sometimes treated with corticosteroids (indeed a shock treatment), but only if you catch it early. The profit of such a shock cure is not enormous. After such an attack, the balance is indeed disturbed. You have to recover it with practice. There are special exercises for this, but by participating as much as possible in daily life you also practice. The majority of people no longer have any problems after a few months, but there are also people who have long-term complaints.
