Low Emissions Mobility Zones (ZFE-m) are increasing in France. L’argus offers you a map of France of the cities already affected by traffic restrictions for the most polluting vehicles.
Improve air quality by encouraging the circulation of the cleanest vehicles in city centers, this is the mission of the ZFE-m, the Low Emission Mobility Zones. They are multiplying in Europe, where there are 230, and in France. In our territory, 5 cities have implemented this system and six are in the process of doing so. By 2025, there will be 45 EPZs (grouping together agglomerations of more than 150,000 inhabitants) or more than 10 million vehicles affected by traffic restrictions (around 1/3 of the French car fleet).

Who can enter the EPZs-m?
Traffic in ZFE-m applies to a defined perimeter and according to time slots determined by the communities concerned. To enter an ZFE-m, vehicles must display a Crit’Air sticker (Air Quality Certificate). It classifies cars according to their polluting emissions using a colored pellet. The higher the number displayed, the higher the emission level. This ecological sticker, valid for the life of the vehicle, buy online at the price of € 3.67 (shipping included). On the date of 1er August 2021, nearly 20 million certificates have been ordered.
What is the risk of driving with an unauthorized vehicle?
If you move in an ZFE-m with an unauthorized vehicle, if you do not have your certificate (or if you do not correspond to your vehicle) or if you park in an area without a Crit’Air badge, you will incur a fine of 68 €. The price rises to 135 € for heavy goods vehicles, buses and coaches. This violation can result in the immobilization of the vehicle and its impoundment. From the end of 2021, in the Greater Paris area for example, the control of Crit’Air pellets can be carried out by the police via video-ticket cameras.
Note that there are a large number of vehicles that can claim an exemption such as vintage vehicles, in particular.
