Fisker markets its Ocean electric SUV in Europe. This competitor of the Tesla Model Y starts at €41,900 in France excluding the ecological bonus. Its top-of-the-range version boasts a WLTP range of 707 km.
[Article mis à jour le 29/03/2023] Fisker’s history as an automaker is far from smooth. Danish-born American designer Henrik Fisker first rose to prominence overseeing the styling of cars such as the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9 before founding his own brand of electrified vehicles, Fisker Automotive, in 2007 after trying his hand at it. briefly to the activity of high-end coachbuilder. The Fisker Karma sedan made the firm famous, but the latter changed hands in 2013 to become Karma Automotive, and Henrik Fisker went on to found VLF Automotive. This builder did not last long.
In 2016, the entrepreneur made a comeback with the California-based brand Fisker Inc., whose first vehicle is the Ocean electric SUV. Announced in March 2019 and presented in November 2021, the vehicle is marketed in Europe in the spring of 2023. France is one of the first European countries to receive the Ocean. Its prices in France are already known and start at €41,900, excluding the ecological bonus.
A vehicle focused on leisure
The Ocean Fisker is 4.78m long, 1.99m wide and 1.63m tall with a wheelbase of 2.92m, a template that positions it facing the Tesla Model Y, or even the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID.4 and Toyota bZ4X shorter by ten centimeters. It sits on rims 20 to 23 inches in diameter.
Displaying a sleek and sober style enhanced by a few edges, this five-seater SUV has some notable features such as:
- California mode allowing you to lower all the windows and open the panoramic roof for a feeling of the great outdoors,
- Limo mode allowing rear passengers to control the ventilation and audio system from their row.
The Fisker Ocean has a vegan cabin made from recycled materials, has the ability to power external devices, and has a central 17.1-inch touch screen called Revolve. This monitor can be rotated from a vertical position to a horizontal arrangement when the car is stationary.

More than 700 km of autonomy at the top of the range
The Fisker Ocean batteries are supplied by the Chinese manufacturer CATL. Like its compatriot and competitor Tesla, the young manufacturer does not communicate the capacities of its batteries, limiting itself to the values of autonomy. The entry-level front-wheel-drive Sport model has a 279 hp electric motor and a “Touring Range” lithium-ion battery giving it an estimated WLTP range of 440 km, subject to final homologation.
The more opulent models are twin-engine and thus have all-wheel drive. They are equipped with an NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) “Hyper Range” battery. The Ocean Ultra displays 547 hp and 610 km of autonomy according to the manufacturer’s forecasts. The Extreme version that caps the launch range offers 558 hp. Its range in the WLTP combined cycle has been homologated at 707 km, making it the most efficient 100% electric SUV on the market in this respect. This is well above the 630 km initially envisaged by Fisker. For comparison, a Tesla Model Y Long Range claims a range of 533 km on a charge. The final European homologation of all versions is expected by April 28, 2023 at the latest.

The standard equipment of the Fisker Ocean Sport includes in particular a panoramic roof, a fixed central screen of 17.1 inches, recognition of signs and traffic lights, a fatigue detector and even the Earth and Fun driving modes. The Ultra configuration adds among other things:
