Adele Clay, 25, fights against theanorexia nervosa and the bulimia since he was 12 years old. His parents, Yvonne and Rick, recently learned that his heart rate had dropped dangerously following a hypothermia (drop in body temperature below 35°C).
Anorexia: hospitals refused to treat it
Her parents, from Stockport (UK), terrified that she might die, asked for help through the media since the hospitals themselves did not wish to welcome the young Adele.
According to her mother, Yvonne, 47, Adele was unable to receive treatment from the hospitals she presented to. At first, because she wasn’t sick enough and then, because her state of health was considered too dangerous.
Eventually, his condition continued to worsen. His organs even started to fail. However, on September 29, the young woman was treated at a hospital specializing in eating disorders in London.
What is anorexia nervosa?
Anorexia nervosa refers to a eating disorder (TCA) which also includes bulimia. In anorexia, a disease thought to affect approximately 70,000 adolescents, the person refuses to maintain their weight above the minimum normal (Body Mass Index (BMI) above 14).
Also, she would be afraid of gaining weight and becoming obese, despite a thinness related. Indeed, the anorexic does not see himself as he is. The person with anorexia nervosa also suffers from amenorrhea (absence of menstrual cycle) for at least three consecutive cycles in menstruating women.
It is possible to cure this disease even if the treatment is long and tedious. Complete healing is achieved in 60% of cases, according to doctors.
