To become an agent of change, the first step is to understand climate issues. A motivating way to achieve this is to participate in an online or face-to-face Climate Fresco. This collaborative game, based on data reported by the IPCC, aims to raise awareness of climate change among one million French people. Are you tempted?
The 6th IPCC report was released in August 2021 but, for each of us, the real climate issues are still unclear. Above all, many wonder what concrete actions they can lead to relieve the planet, make the right choices and adopt responsible actions…
First understand the issues
Today, everyone wants to understand the questions that are being debated around the essential energy transition, the means of limiting greenhouse gas emissions, the development of renewable energies, the relevance (or not) of maintaining and developing nuclear energy…
You probably started by searching on Google (there is plenty of info!), then you have listened to podcast and watched videos excellent Jean-Marc Jancovici. It’s awesome !
You must have gathered a lot of information but you may be missing the big picture…
And then you might be tired of find yourself alone behind your screen, especially to study such an anxiety-provoking subject…
So why not take a fun little break? It’s no use feeling guilty because you haven’t found how to take concrete action for the planet at your level.
If you like educational games, I may have a good idea to suggest to you : an online Climate Fresco…
What is the Climate Fresco?
La Fresque du Climat is an association created in 2018 which has developed an eponymous game to make as many people as possible understand the functioning and mechanisms of climate change.
The game is both pedagogic and collaborative ; it makes the subject of climate change concrete, tangible and understandable.
For each group of players, this is an opportunity for dizzying realization climate issues. It is also a brainstorm creative about what can be done as a group and individually.
The game takes place on the occasion offun workshops organized face-to-face (you can also participate in the Climate Fresco online) with a facilitator (like me), specially trained for this.
The goal of La Fresque is to involve more than one million people in five years and to train at least a facilitator in each major city in France. If that tells you…
How do we play ?
The game is made up of around forty cards that have to be placed on a large fresco to highlight the cause and effect relationships around climate change.
The cards show the major themes of the climate issue : warming of the ocean, of the earth, melting ice, disruption of the water cycle, rising waters, permafrost, radiative forcing, etc.
Guided by the facilitator, participants must find the causal links between the cards. For example: does the melting of the glaciers raise the level of the oceans? And the disappearance of the pack ice then?

What if we stopped the clichés about ecology?
Once we correctly understand the climate issues, all our actions and our lives are impacted and we want to dedicate a significant part of his time.
This is why at the end of each Climate Fresco, the facilitators organize discussion groups to help participants take action themselves. The level of engagement of these communities is incredibly high.
Do we make a Climate Fresco online?
All maps were created from IPCC reports (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), which summarizes all the scientific literature on the subject. The Climate Fresco is therefore a fun and entertaining activity, but based on rigorous scientific data.
It is above all a excelsnt way to document with several, between friends, in family or even in company between colleagues.
To learn more, to understand, to discuss and to take action, you can contact me. I will explain how to participate in a climate fresco online or face-to-face with me.
