Twenty BMWs at the start
BMW, partner of the event for the 12and year, is one of the most represented brands with around twenty cars entered. Among the models not to be missed, let us mention: the M1 Procar, the 3.0 CSL including n°289 with motor sport legend Mr. Henri Pescarolo at the wheel, or the many 2002s, whether tii or Turbo.
For the 2and consecutive year, The argument is of the trip with a crew made up of its journalists Mathieu Sentis and Geraldine Gaudy. Follow the adventures of our team every day in photos and video on our website as well as on our social networks: Youtube, Instagram @largus_auto and Facebook Largus.auto. We also salute the presence of a courageous female crew led by Mélanie Astles who are about to cross France in a 1957 BMW Isetta 600.
Ferraris and other curiosities
On the 31and edition of the Tour Auto, many other models deserve your attention. Let’s continue on atypical models including a Panhard Dyna X87. This 1953 convertible is equipped with a twin-cylinder 850 cm3 offering only… 38 hp. With its aluminum body and its low weight, it will be able to reach 100 to 130 km/h at peak. Also to follow is the 1960 Volvo PV 544. This model, of formidable reliability (it is said that certain models have reached 3 million kilometres), distinguished itself in rallying on many occasions between 1959 and 1965.
More exclusive now… Don’t miss Ferrari’s field with the 365 GTB/4 Group 4 which, 50 years ago, won the Tour de France Automobile with Jean-Claude Andruet. For this 2022 edition, seven Daytonas made the trip, entered in competition or regularity. Also worth seeing is the 460 hp Ligier JS2 (1975) entered by the now famous “John of B” – who was driving a Matra MS650 prototype in 2021.
