The restyled Audi e-tron Sportback is revealed to be partially camouflaged on official photos, showing it put to the test in the great cold of Scandinavia. The electric SUV could change its name to join the Q8 family.
To illustrate the winter development tests to which its vehicles are subjected, Audi has just unveiled the first official photos of the restyled e-tron Sportback in its S version. This “coupé” version of the electric SUV was put on the market in 2020 , just over a year after the standard e-tron. Both models could be restyled at the same time at the end of 2022.
Better aerodynamics?
For 100% electric vehicles, the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback have a relatively large front air intake. This could change with their restyling, the camouflage of the test model in the image seeming to hide a grille that is less open than currently. We also note the absence of opening in the masking strips for the air intakes, currently located at the corners of the front bumper, and for the cutouts of the front wheel arches. Discreet but notable work therefore seems to have been carried out to reduce aerodynamic drag., therefore consumption, and thus improve autonomy. The latter could also benefit from a new battery but this remains to be confirmed. The lower rear part of the prototype is also camouflaged; aesthetic changes should be minimal there.
Goodbye e-tron, hello Q8 e-tron?
Audi plans to become a 100% electric brand in Europe by 2033 and will therefore clean up its range. The current e-tron, e-tron Sportback and Q8 will be replaced in 2026 by a future Q8 e-tron and its possible Q8 e-tron Sportback version. This large electric SUV will be produced in Brussels, Belgium, like the e-tron and e-tron Sportback, while the Q8 is born in Slovakia and Russia. According to some rumours, the name Q8 e-tron could appear as soon as the restyling of the e-tron and e-tron Sportback to standardize Audi’s range of electric vehicles. See you in a few months for confirmation.
