Public Health France affirms that the investigations carried out did not “reveal any proven risk”.
The investigations yielded nothing: Public Health France announced on Wednesday September 23 that the research carried out on pediatric cancers that occurred in the Sainte-Pazanne sector, in Loire-Atlantique, did not make it possible to establish a common cause. “This analysis did not show the significant and persistent presence of clusters of childhood cancers in the department”indicates the communicated. The “Stop aux cancers de nos enfants” collective has identified 22 cases of pediatric cancers in the area since 2015. Public Health France has been carrying out investigations for several months, after being challenged by this group of parents.
Preventive actions
“We know that, from a personal point of view, cancer affecting a child is always one cancer too many.said Lisa King, head of Public Health France Pays de la Loire. The question that parents in Sainte-Pazanne are asking is the one that all families in France are legitimately asking themselves when they are going through the same dramatic situation. We need more research into the causes of cancer.” The organization now recommends setting up an active surveillance plan and preventive actions. The first is to maintain surveillance of new cases of declared pediatric cancer. In the Pornic Agglo Pays de Retz agglomeration community, a local health contract should be established to develop preventive actions such as improving indoor air quality, reducing exposure to pesticides or fight against unfit housing. A campaign to measure exposure to pesticides recently started in Sainte-Pazanne for a period of one year.
“We just lost more than three years”
The collective “Stop the cancers of our children”, reacted on its page Facebook, Tuesday, September 22, following the last monitoring committee between the Regional Health Agency and Public Health France. “We just wasted over 3 years believing they could search. We just wasted more than 3 years trusting them”, he says. A few days ago, the parents gathered in the collective appealed to President Emmanuel Macron. It was renewed last night on Facebook: “We solemnly appeal to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron to intervene in order to protect children. No family, here or elsewhere, will be able to hear and accept that our State is doing nothing to save its children..”
Parental assumptions
Fundraising was done to conduct new research a few months ago. They made it possible to detect organic pollutants and metals. “The first results show that there is certainly a problem with pesticides, endocrine disruptors, heavy metals, radonexplains Marie Thibaud to the newspaper 20 minutes. We work on accumulation, on the cocktail effect.” The other hypothesis raised by the group of parents concerns a wind farm built shortly before 2015. It could generate magnetic fields, harmful to the health of children.
