HBO Max is here: these are the 10 must-see TV series

There’s very little bad content on HBO Max, but this is the absolute top 10 must-see TV series on the brand new streaming service.

HBO Max is finally available everywhere in the Benelux and that means we can finally (legally) check out some of the most legendary series. The dirt-cheap streaming service is the founder of quality TV and it shows. For today’s selection, we had to consider all kinds of factors to arrive at an acceptable list. HBO Max: 5 must see open doors

• sopranos
• The Wire
• Game of Thrones
• west world
• Band of Brothers / The Pacific

Starting with the open doors. The Wire and Sopranos are seen as two of the founding fathers of top quality TV. The shows both have a unique approach, but revolve around hard crime. One shows ultra-realistic ‘urban’ crime in Baltimore, the other the hard-hitting mafia world of New Jersey.

In addition, everyone knows and their mother Game of Thrones and perhaps even Westworld. These are high sci-fi and fantasy shows. But once you’re in it, it’s a feast. Finally, the Saving Private Ryan spin-offs under Band of Brothers and The Pacific have yet to be added. You must see it if you like history and war films.

5 hidden gems

Then there are a lot of series that fewer people are talking about. Starting with Chernobyl and True Detective; two unbelievably gray stories. One true, the other so philosophical and realistic it could fool you.

In between floats Veep, a mockumentary-style political comedy in the vein of House of Cards, but without the pitch-black take on politics.

Finally Girls and Euphoria, two shows about young women in a world they discover through trial and error. Apparently both series are aimed at women, but trust this young man, these are two HBO Max must see TV series.
