The hearing aids offered as part of the “100% health” reform are of equivalent quality to conventional prostheses, for a lower price and therefore meet the demands of the government, according to the association UFC-Que Choisir.
As part of its 100% health reform, the government has promised to offer hearing aids at a lower cost without this affecting the quality. According to’UFC-What to Choose, the contract is fulfilled. Currently, after reimbursement from Social Security and mutual insurance, the remainder for a pair amounts to an average of € 1,400. Thanks to the reform, prostheses will soon be available at 750 €, then free next year.
Beware of dissuasive speeches to buy more expensive prostheses
UFC-Que Choisir said it was satisfied with the quality of the new hearing aids. The consumers’ association has tested seven pairs of these prostheses in the laboratory. They tested “the operation of hearing aids, both in a calm environment, for traditional conversations, but also in situations where the devices are used more, namely a road trip with the noise of the automobile and a conversation at a restaurant ”, described Mathieu Escot, deputy director of political action UFC-Que Choisir, at the microphone of Franceinfo.
The “zero charge remaining” wanted by Emmanuel Macron for dental, optical and hearing care, is respected here. It now remains at “ensure that professionals play the game of reform and offer, without denigrating them, 100% healthy prostheses ”, observes the association for the defense of consumers. UFC-Que Choisir alerts consumers to potential dissuasive speeches from professionals who could direct them to more expensive prostheses. The association points to the “lack of independence of some hearing aid professionals vis-à-vis manufacturers ”, to warn consumers. As for the public authorities, they will have to “redouble vigilance”And lead“controls to ensure that the duty of advice and loyalty of professionals towards their patients prevails. ”
