Curfew, reopening of non-essential shops, terraces and cultural places, resumption of certain sports activities … We take stock of everything that will change with the second stage of deconfinement which will be held this Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Curfew extended to 9 p.m.
As of this Wednesday, May 19, 2021, the curfew will go from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Beyond that, a travel certificate is always compulsory. The deconfinement schedule then plans to pass the curfew from 11 p.m. from June 9 and remove it from June 30.
Reopening of non-essential businesses
“Non-essential” shops and departments will be able to reopen this Wednesday, provided that a strict health protocol is respected. The latter provides for a distance of 8 square meters per customer in stores and shopping centers. As for stores with a sales area of less than 8 m², they can only accommodate one customer at a time.
Reopening of cinemas, museums and cultural venues
Closed since October 30, cinemas will be able to reopen their doors this Wednesday provided they respect the gauge established at 35%. The protocol provides for a maximum capacity of 800 spectators and imposes a free space of two seats between each spectator or group of people. The same goes for theaters whose opening conditions are identical. Museums themselves will have to follow the same protocol as shops, namely a threshold of 8m² per visitor. Finally, libraries will also be able to reopen, at the rate of one in two seats.
Reopening of bar and restaurant terraces
The terraces of bars and restaurants will be able to reinvest in the French streets from this Wednesday, May 19. However, the authorities impose a strict health protocol which provides for a reception capacity of 50% of their capacity and groupings limited to a maximum of six people around the same table. On the other hand, the gauge does not apply for terraces of less than 10 tables in which it will be necessary to install partitions between the tables. For establishments that do not have terraces, the reopening of establishments is scheduled for June 9.
Resumption of certain air sports activities
From this Wednesday, collective outdoor sports activities (only non-contact sports) will again be authorized and may bring together up to ten people. Sports halls and indoor swimming pools will also be able to reopen unconditionally, but only for priority practitioners (schools and extracurriculars, high-level athletes, etc.). Sports competitions can be reorganized “contactless” for amateurs, with a maximum capacity of 50 people. Finally, the stadiums will again be able to accommodate spectators up to a limit of 35% of the workforce, up to 1,000 seated people.
Increased capacity for religious ceremonies
In places of worship or during wedding or PACS ceremonies, the number of guests will be determined by one location out of three staggered between each row. The gauge increases to 35% of the reception capacity of the place of reception for weddings and funeral ceremonies can, from Wednesday, accommodate up to 50 people.
