Scientists have found a way to practice the transmission of thought between two human brains using an encephalogram and computer software. A rudimentary form of telepathy.
Who says magic doesn’t exist? That of the Internet in any case is very real. Thanks to this network and to an encephalogram, researchers have succeeded in carrying out an experiment close to telepathy. Their results are published in the journal Plos One.
Communicate through thought between India and France
Professors from Harvard Medical School have teamed up with doctors from the University of Barcelona to develop this method. Funded by the Spanish firm Starlab, the experiment involves placing electrodes connected to a computer on the heads of two subjects. The first is in India and the second in France. The first said simple thoughts such as “hello”. His thoughts were then transcribed by the computer into its own language, the binary code. They were then sent via the internet to the brain of the second subject. The latter received the information in the form of a light flash.
A track for the paralyzed
“We have shown that it is possible to transmit information from one human brain to another through the scalp, without using any motor or peripheral sensory systems,” the researchers conclude. The latter see it as an encouraging gateway to other possibilities for developing non-sensory means of communication. “We believe that direct interactions between computers and the human brain will be possible in the near future,” they say. Doctors see in particular the opportunity to help people who can no longer use their senses to communicate, in particular patients with paralysis or victims of a stroke.
