According to a study conducted by a team of researchers from Harvard and Boston University in the United States, reaching orgasm regularly would reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
Reach orgasm at least 21 times a month
Men would do well to masturbate if they want to avoid any risk of prostate cancer. Here is the surprising conclusion of a study published in the journal European Urology. According to these studies, reaching orgasm at least 21 times a month would indeed reduce the risk of contracting prostate cancer. A study which pushes the British health authorities to encourage onanism.
To reach these conclusions, the American researchers examined the results of a questionnaire in which nearly 31,000 healthy men had participated in 1992. This questionnaire dealt with the frequency of their ejaculation. Aged 20 to 29 and 40 to 49 at the time, these participants were then followed until 2010. During these 18 years, nearly 4,000 men developed prostate cancer.
A finding that has not yet been explained
The researchers were able to observe that men who ejaculated at least 21 times a month, either by masturbating or during sexual intercourse, significantly reduced (-33%) their risk of developing prostate cancer compared to those who ejaculated only 4-7 times per month. But they failed to explain this phenomenon. Would ejaculation reduce the risk of infection or inflammation?
As a reminder, the prostate is a gland that produces a liquid that allows the formation of sperm. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer, both in men and in the general population: nearly 54,000 new cases estimated in France in 2011, according to the National Cancer Institute. It is a cancer that is very difficult to diagnose. In case of urinary disorders, do not hesitate to consult your doctor.
