Plus a fake grille
Until now, few tuners have been involved in adding engine power to electric cars using software. Possibly because it is all relatively new and the knowledge is lacking, and because they don’t want to burn their fingers (literally). The German tuner Manhart is now taking the plunge: they add almost 40 hp and 60 Nm to the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
The power of the Tesla Model 3 has always been a bit unclear. Officially, Tesla itself does not list horsepower or Nm for the electric sedan. According to Manhart, the standard power of the Model 3 Performance is 513 hp and 660 Nm. With the MHtronik Powerbox, the power increases to 550 hp and 720 Nm. What that does to the range is unknown. We are also very curious what Tesla itself thinks of it.
The price of the tuning at Manhart is unknown. For now they only offer this Manhart Tesla Model 3 as a turnkey car. For 74,900 euros excluding Dutch taxes, the Tesla will go home with you. In addition to the extra power, Manhart mounted a carbon fiber splitter, different wheels and stuck a fake grille on the nose.
Not the first with ‘chip tuning’ for the Tesla Model 3
Last year, the company Ingenext introduced the so-called Boost 50 module. This is a small plug that would add 50 horsepower to the Model 3. Installation of this module would be a snap in minutes by plugging it under the dash. The company does recommend removing the module before driving to the dealer. Converted, this module costs more than 900 euros, excluding taxes and shipping costs from America.
