I regularly suffer from a vaginal yeast infection. This keeps coming back, but especially in the spring and summer I suffer from it. This hurts during sex and itches terribly. Do you have any idea how this is possible and what I can do about it? Thank you very much for your help.

Dear Irene,
There are various medicines for fungal infections. To find out what the best medication is for you, you should consult your doctor or gynaecologist. To prevent a yeast infection, the acidity of the vagina is important.
This acidity can be negatively influenced by all kinds of medicines, but also by the pill. If you are taking the pill, you can investigate whether this is causing the yeast infections by stopping the pill for three months and using alternative contraception. If you have followed this process and you still have pain during sex, I advise you to contact a sexologist NVVS.
