Sometimes you want to send someone a message on WhatsApp without saving them as a contact in your phone. For example, a (seller) buyer on Marktplaats, a customer service with a WhatsApp service or a vague acquaintance. It is possible with this simple trick.
Roadmap
This step-by-step plan works for iPhones and Android phones. Note: the WhatsApp app must be on your smartphone.
- Open a browser on your phone, for example Safari or Google Chrome.
- In the URL bar, tap the following: wa.me/316 and don’t press enter yet. First read on at step 3.
- Tap back 316 now the phone number you want to send a message to, without 06 in front. For example, if the phone number you want to app is 0612345678, this is what you enter in the URL: wa.me/31612345678
- Now tap enter.
- Tap on Open or Continue to chat.
- WhatsApp will now open a chat screen on your phone with the phone number you entered.
WhatsApp Web
Prefer whatsapp via the computer? The trick above works the same. Carry out the step-by-step plan with, for example, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. It is useful to already open Web WhatsApp in a tab.
Whatsapp with yourself
Earlier in this article we explained how to create a WhatsApp chat with yourself in which you send notes and other things that you should not forget to yourself. You can do that with the trick above. Enter your own telephone number after 316 (without 06!).
