Deborah James, an English journalist followed by a million people on Instagram, died at the age of 40 on Tuesday June 28 from colon cancer. “We are very sad to announce the death of Dame Deborah James, a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, mother. She passed away peacefully today surrounded by her family,” said his relatives in the caption of a photo of the former headmistress posted on the social network for sharing images and videos.

In 2016, Deborah James, known as “Bowelbabe”, was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Since her diagnosis, the mother of two children aged 12 and 14 has decided to present the BBC podcast “You, Me And The Big C” (You, me and cancer) and write a book about her illness. Before dying, she had set herself the goal of raising 250,000 pounds to continue her fight against cancer. In May, when she was terminally ill and in palliative care, she raised over £7million for research.
