Dengue fever, chikungunya, zika
The Aedes albopictus mosquito (commonly known as the “tiger mosquito”) is native to Asia. It is the vector of diseases such as dengue fever, chikungunya or zika. In metropolitan France, this mosquito has developed rapidly since 2004 and is now present in 67 departments according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
“In fact, the mosquito becomes infected by taking the virus from the blood of a sick person infected (following a trip to a tropical zone) during a bite and then, during another bite, transmits the virus. to a new person, explains the ARS du Grand Est. “Once established in a sector, it is very difficult to eliminate it”she says.
How not to be stung
To avoid being bitten, it is recommended to favor natural repellents, wear long and loose clothing, use plants, turn on the fan and remove stagnant water from your surroundings.
