On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, which will take place on Saturday May 28, the manufacturer of panties Eve and Co questioned more than 2,000 students about the free sanitary protection distributors promised a year ago in universities by the then Minister in charge of Higher Education Frédérique Vidal.
42% of students facing menstrual poverty
The survey first confirms the impact of menstrual precariousness among female students, since 42% say they have been confronted with it either directly or through their close entourage. This study also shows that there is still a lot to be done to democratize the distributors of sanitary protection in universities: only 18% of the students questioned are aware of their existence and know where they are located, and 63% say they do not know what they are. device. 22% have heard of the principle but do not have one available.
Other lessons: 80% of young women surveyed have never used these dispensers, 12% have used them once and 8% repeatedly. 78% of female students say they are satisfied with the quality of the protection available to them, but 48% have already found themselves faced with an empty dispenser.
