A short questionnaire, accessible on the site of the National Assembly, allows the French to give their opinion on “recreational” cannabis – understood as all the currently illegal uses of cannabis in France.
- From January 13 to February 28, the French will be able to answer an online questionnaire to give their opinion on public policy and cannabis legislation.
After devoting its work to therapeutic cannabis, the parliamentary fact-finding mission on the regulation and impact of the various uses of cannabis has begun a cycle of hearings on cannabis “recreational” – understood as all currently illegal uses of cannabis in France. The question sheetaccessible on the website of the National Assembly, evaluates your opinion about cannabis, concerning for example its impact on health or the effectiveness of the legislation in force.
Possible changes to the French regulatory framework
This is, for the mission, “to take stock of the public policies carried out with regard to the prevention and repression of the trafficking and use of cannabis, to offer an overview of foreign experiences of legalization or decriminalization, and to contribute to a reflection on the possible evolution of the regulatory framework French relating to this substance”, specify the 33 deputies.
“This reflection cannot be envisaged without attentive listening to the expectations of citizens”, they continue. Like some municipalities, such as Villeurbanne, the mission therefore wished to propose a citizen consultation aimed at better understanding the perception of cannabis which is that of the French today and their vision of the future of public policies in the matter.
Enlighten the mission of information
“The results of this consultation will thus make it possible to clarify the mission of information and will be taken into account to determine the proposals which it will carry within the framework of its report”, conclude the deputies.
Cannabis is the most widely used illicit substance in France, according to a report by the French Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction. 45% of French people have already tested it and 7.4% of teenagers have problematic use of it.
