Google is destroying the ability to use your screen as Android Auto. There is an alternative.
Only modern cars have Android Auto, or it is an option from the car manufacturer. That is of little use if you have a car from, for example, 2012 or older. However, it is possible to mimic the screen of Android Auto on your own smartphone. By using your phone in a holder, you still have a kind of Android Auto in your older car. But Google is stopping this possibility.
Android Auto as screen
With the arrival of Android 12 this fall, Android Auto as a separate application on your phone has come to an end. Fortunately, the US tech company isn’t completely wrecking the opportunity. There will be an alternative in the form of Google Assistant. There is a special driving mode within the assistant that you can use. The feature is standard on all smartphones from Android 10.
If you continue to use Android 10 or 11 and do not upgrade to Android 12, you can continue to use Android Auto as a separate screen in the old way. If you do make the switch to Android 12, then you are dependent on the Driving Mode of Google Assistant. Or you buy a new car with Android Auto. Although the latter is a very expensive solution.
