The French in favor of e-health!
Three-quarters of French people say they are in favor of setting up a new virtual medical consultation system.
83% are even willing to be monitored “electronically” (by text, email, videoconference) for a chronic illness, and 82% for post-operative monitoring. 76% of them are in favor of changing their mode of medical consultations and willingly wish to communicate regularly by email or SMS with their attending physician for their benign health problems that do not require auscultation. In this practical case, the majority of French people (51%) are ready for this change “even without a prior physical appointment”. For all other cases, they will establish an electronic relationship only after having previously had a physical appointment with the practitioner concerned.
The French for the personal medical record
In fact, 85% of them favor the electronic record (DMP or “Personal Medical Record”) and are ready to feed it without restriction. And more than six out of ten French people (62%) would even be ready to put absolutely all their examinations and medical consultations there. One in four people (23%) would be a little more suspicious and preferred to include only their least sensitive medical data, such as their medical history.
According to this survey, 14% of respondents are quite hostile to the implementation of electronic medical records, 7% only wishing to see basic non-medical information (heights, weight, blood type) included. 7% say they do not want DMP.
Good news, seniors are much more in favor of unreservedly submitting their file (74% of those over 65) than the youngest (54% of 15-34 year olds).
This survey was carried out on a sample of 1,021 people representative of the French population aged 15 and over for the Syntec Numérique business federation and was broadcast by 20 minutes, 01net and BFM Business.
